I’m not quite sure how this soup acquired its name, because it certainly isn’t just for Italian weddings. And many sources say that it is actually more “American” in origin. Regardless, it’s a great soup (and substantial), so only a salad and a bread roll is needed to complete the meal. Making the miniature meatballs for the soup takes a bit of time, but after that is done, the rest is easy. The salad with baked goat cheese is a dish that is served every day in the cafe at Chez Panisse in California.
