I don’t make this often, but when I do, I find that the best results occur when the stew components are put in a slow cooker and simmered for hours. You can even go to work and leave it unattended until you return home! Then, all that is needed is to steam some rice as an accompaniment, and heat rolls or bread made earlier in the week. I always want something “green” with this, and tonight’s solution was a side dish of steamed broccoli flowerets topped with a sour cream dressing.
