While most “nice” restaurants jack up their prices exorbitantly on Valentine’s Day and offer such fare as lobster and truffles, I choose to cook at home. There were really nice organic, boneless turkey breast halves at the market this week. I pondered how to use the half I came home with and decided that the simpler the better—just season with herbs, salt, and pepper and roast in the oven. The side dishes are a bit out of the ordinary (after all, I didn’t want a Thanksgiving type meal tonight). The rice dish with its sweet and spicy components, and the other unusual accompaniments are enough to make this Valentine’s Day special enough for me.
